Welcome to the School of Banking & Finance at the Australian School of Business.
Finance is a specialisation of the field of economics that deals with how resources are supplied and distributed by modern corporations and other financial entities in a world of private enterprise.
The field became a proper scientific enterprise in the 1950s with the pathbreaking research done by Harry Markowitz, J. Fred Weston and the pioneering work of Franco Modigliani and Merton Miller. Most work in finance can be characterised in one of two areas: corporate finance and asset pricing.
