IARIW-UNSW special conference on productivity measurement, drivers and trends – registration now closed

 

The International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW), the School of Economics and the Centre for Applied Economic Research (CAER) of the Australian School of Business at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) are holding a special conference on 'Productivity Measurement, Drivers and Trends'.

 

The IARIW-UNSW Special Conference is supported by the Australian School of Business, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Productivity Commission and the Australian Research Council.

The IARIW-UNSW Special Conference will be held on November 26-27, 2013 at The Sebel Pier One, 11 Hickson Rd, Dawes Point, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia.

Conference attendance is free, however, registration is required. Please use the link below to register online. Once completing your registration, you will receive a confirmation email (please check your junk/spam folder in case you have not received it in your inbox folder). As capacity is limited, you are encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment. Please note that registration to the conference will close on October 25, 2013.

While there is no registration fee for this event all non-Australian-based delegates must be or become individual IARIW members or employees of IARIW institutional members.

CAER Economic Measurement Group Workshop 2013

For the information of attendees, the IARIW-UNSW Special Conference will be followed by the annual CAER Economic Measurement Group Workshop, 28-29 November 2013, at the same venue, with a focus on price indexes and other measurement issues. For more details and registration see the EMG Workshop 2013.

 

Accommodation

Delegates are responsible for making their own accommodation arrangements. For your convenience, we have included below several suggestions.

 

Accommodation at the Conference Hotel

Subject to availability, The Sebel Pier One offers the following discounted accommodation rate for conference delegates:

 

$305 AUD per night for Heritage King/Twin Room including Breakfast

 

After completing your registration, you will receive a confirmation email which will also include instructions on how to book accommodation at the above discounted rate.

There is also a wide range of other accommodation options at a variety of prices available near the conference venue. Below are a few suggestions:

Visa

All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa before traveling to Australia. Conference delegates from most European countries, as well as from the United States and Canada, are eligible to apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) or eVisitor visas.

 

Conference delegates from countries that are not eligible for an ETA or eVisitor visa will have to submit a paper-based visa application. Paper-based visa application requires evidence of registration to the event. If you are submitting a paper-based visa application, please ensure that you have attached to your application the confirmation of registration printout and the confirmation of registration email that you have received upon registration.

 

For paper-based visa applications, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship recommends that you apply for your visa at least 6-8 weeks prior to your departure date. Online visa applications should be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to departure.

Local Transportation


Sydney has an extensive public transportation system of buses, trains, and ferries. The NSW Transport Info provides useful information about the transit system, including a handy trip planner and information on available ticket options and fares.

 

Exploring Sydney

Sydney is a dynamic and exciting city with many things to see and do. For those wishing to explore Sydney, the Sebel Pier One is located near many of Sydney's most famous attractions. Right on the harbour, it is only a short walk away from Sydney’s iconic Opera House, the historical The Rocks area and Circular Quay. Public transportation at Circular Quay provides easy access to the famous Darling Harbour and Sydney’s best beaches such as Bondi and Manly.
