The Australian School of Business at the University of New South Wales has received EQUIS business school accreditation for the maximum period of five years. EQUIS is the global quality assurance scheme of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), which aims to raise the standard of management education worldwide.

Professor Alec Cameron, Dean of the Australian School of Business, said that gaining EQUIS accreditation placed the School in an exclusive group of the world’s leading business schools. “There are more than 10,000 business schools in the world but only 125 have received EQUIS accreditation and less than half have been granted the full five-year accreditation.”

“The international peer review process for gaining EQUIS accreditation is rigorous, and has involved two and a half years of benchmarking the School against international best practice in terms of teaching programs, students, intellectual output, corporate engagement, internationalisation and executive education.

“The review highlighted a number of areas of strength across the Australian School of Business. These include the design of our teaching programs; the high calibre of our students; staff performance appraisal, review and promotion processes; the high level of internationalisation of our Faculty; the quality of our administrative staff; and the calibre of the School’s international academic partners.

“EQUIS accreditation will help us to build stronger research linkages with other EQUIS accredited schools. It will also enhance our brand in international markets, particularly in Europe and Asia,” said Professor Cameron.
