Development of graduate attributes
The Australian School of Business supports students' development of graduate attributes through:
- Course design, planning and review
- Course documentation, including course outlines
- Assessment strategies
- Teaching and learning activities
Background
The Australian School of Business graduate attributes are developed through the majors and programs of study. This process is supported by the Australian School of Business graduate attributes and curriculum mapping project that commenced in 2007. The project was designed to contextualise and embed graduate attributes within the undergraduate programs of the Faculty.
The aim of the project was to:
- Enhance program coherence
- Develop a set of contextualised graduate attributes for the Faculty
- Map the alignment of current programs with the set of graduate attributes
- Train staff in embedding and assessing graduate attributes within the Faculty and the associated use of software tools
The curriculum maps have assisted staff in reviewing and improving programs enabling the Australian School of Business to more effectively nurture the development of graduate attributes through the undergraduate majors.
Course outlines
The Australian School of Business course outlines provide detailed information for students on how the learning outcomes, learning activities, and assessment/s will contribute to the development of these Australian School of Business graduate attributes, within individual courses.
It is not expected that all six graduate attributes will be developed in a single course or to an equal extent. However, students should be able to clearly identify where and how the attributes are being addressed during their degree. Course outline templates and guidelines.
Assessment rubrics
Assessment rubrics are being developed to assist staff in developing consistent marking criteria to assess graduate attributes throughout the degree programs.
