How to apply

Admission to UNSW is based on academic merit. If you are seeking admission to an undergraduate program you must be able to provide evidence that you have met the entry requirements of the program of your choice.

For admission purposes there are two groups of applicants to UNSW programs:

Domestic applicants are classified as Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens
International applicants are classified as citizens of a country other than Australia or New Zealand

Domestic applicants

Domestic applicants (as classified above) must apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Please use the UAC code provided in the undergraduate programs list when you are applying.

International applicants

International applicants completing an Australian Year 12 (either in Australia or offshore), the NZ NCEA Level 3 qualification or the International Baccalaureate (IB) (either in Australia or offshore) apply for entry into UNSW via UAC International on the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) website.

All other international applicants who have completed or are completing qualifications other than those listed above should apply directly to UNSW. Please read the UNSW International step by step guide to applying for an undergraduate program.

Can I transfer between UNSW programs? (For domestic students)
There are two transfer options available to UNSW domestic students: (I) Students can apply for transfer through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) after completing a minimum of six courses (36 UOC). Assessment for entry will be based on their ATAR results (or equivalent) and/or academic results from UNSW. (II) Students can apply via UNSW internal transfer program which requires the achievement of a pre-determined average grade (usually 75) for various programs.

Is there an advanced standing or credit transfer agreement with overseas institutions?
The Australian School of Business has an advanced standing agreement with recognised colleges and polytechnics in Malaysia and Singapore that awards students with up to one year of credit depending on the diploma undertaken.

Will my studies at another university be recognised?
You may be eligible for transfer credits for courses successfully completed at another university. Applications for transfer credits are made after an offer to UNSW is accepted. In addition to your academic transcripts, we will require official course outlines of all the courses you are seeking as transfer credits.
