International exchange

You’re often judged by the company you keep. Our relationship with many of the world’s leading business schools is testimony to our standing in the international community. This is reflected in the depth of our incoming and outgoing exchange programs with leading schools from Asia, Canada, Europe, UK and USA. We currently have Exchange Partnerships with 27 elite international Business Schools.

Partnership in International Management (PIM) is an international consortium of business schools from around the world that exchanges select Graduate students for one academic term. We are a proud member of the PIM network.

Outgoing exchange
As an AGSM MBA Program student you have the opportunity to go on exchange during the elective phase of the program. Students who go on exchange have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a different cultural context, research overseas work environments and build a global network of friends and contacts. Exchange also provides increased learning opportunities by enabling students to target business schools with a reputation for excellence in a particular area.

How it works
Students on exchange receive full credit for overseas study and their AGSM MBA Programs tuition fees cover tuition at the exchange school. Places are allocated according to a fixed, pre-negotiated quota of positions that are made available by partner schools (to be reciprocal over a 3 year period).

Selection is based on both academic and non-academic criteria (in equal percentages). Grades are taken from results in the students' core courses (or GDM core results). Students also give a five to ten minute presentation to a selection panel stating how they will positively act as a representative of the AGSM MBA Programs whilst at the exchange institution, and will also demonstrate sound reasons/research for selecting the exchange school.

The selection committee will also be looking for demonstrated ambassadorial qualities, contributions to the AGSM MBA Programs and wider community. The exchange program is a popular and important element of the FT MBA program. On average, approximately 50% of the FT class participate in this opportunity.

Incoming exchange
Our relationship with many of the world’s leading business schools is testimony to our standing in the international community and this is reflected in the depth of the exchange program.

Each year we welcome approximately 30 incoming exchange students from our business school partners around the world. Please note that if you would like to study with us on exchange, the first step is for your home institution to officially nominate you for the exchange program.

Where you’ll be
The full-time AGSM MBA Program is delivered at the Sydney campus of the University of New South Wales on the east coast of Australia. The campus itself is in a terrific location– close to the heart of the business district and close to the surf beaches that have made Sydney famous.
