Moving to Moodle
UNSW is changing its Learning Management system (LMS) from Blackboard to Moodle over the next year. This is the website you use to access all your ASB online course materials and activities.
During Semester 2 2013, you might find that some of your courses are in Blackboard, and some are in Moodle. From Semester 1 2014, all your online courses will be in Moodle.
Accessing Blackboard and Moodle
You will find a link to both systems from the MyUNSW HomePage once you have logged in. If you don’t find a course you are enrolled in when you log into Blackboard, check Moodle to see if this course has already made the transition.
Your course outlines and lecturers will also provide information about where to find your online course.
Moodle maintains many of the features you rely on from Blackboard – access to key course materials, links and readings, online assignment submission, and communication with your Lecturers and Tutors.
Moodle is also connected to your UNSW zMail account, so remember – it is important to check that account regularly for important messages from your courses.
We recommend updating your Moodle profile and messaging settings to get the most out of the system. You will find these links in the lefthand navigation when you first log in. You may also find other types of activities in both Moodle and Blackboard – online quizzes, discussion forums, surveys and others.
If you’re having any difficulty using either system, there are a range of support options in place including:
