Student experience

Students who study the Master of Commerce at the Australian School of Business receive far more from the experience than simply a degree. We encourage students to maximise their MCom experience by:

  • Persuing their passions rather than studying this year’s 'hot' discipline
  • Seeking industry specific local work placements
  • Enhancing their generic employability skills
  • Taking advantage of the diverse extracurricular program of events occurring at UNSW
  • Developing a portfolio to document their achievements
  • Leveraging off professional/industry association resources and activities

  • Developing their own network of industry contacts
  • Applying knowledge gained in the MCom via business games, voluntary employment placements and competitions

Postgraduate students

Activities to introduce new postgraduate student to campus activities, support networks and development opportunities are offered during Orientation week every semester. Students can register for co-curricular programs and activities including the Postgraduate Orientation Camp or join senior postgraduate students for a Business school specific University tour.

The Friday of Orientation week ends with a Postgraduate Welcome Party and there is also a Postgraduate Welcome BBQ on the Sunday before the start of session.

Graduates

UNSW Student Development International conducts a series of seminars and workshops to help new graduates make decisions about their post-graduation plans. Seminars include:

  • Applying for Jobs Internationally
  • Preparing for the Australian Workplace

The unit also provides seminars for international students who are in their final session and are preparing to return to their home country or preparing to stay in Austalia as residents.
