Mentoring

You want to help someone else realise their talents. You’re keen to share the knowledge and insights you’ve gained in your career so far and you’re open to learning something new.
Sound good?

As a member of the Australian School of Business alumni community, we need you to help us impact the next generation of business talent.

Volunteer to mentor an undergraduate, postgraduate or AGSM MBA student.

AGSM MBA (Executive) mentoring initiative

We're looking for AGSM MBA (Executive) alumni to mentor current MBA students in their final year of study. Mentors share industry knowledge and provide career guidance with their mentees while further developing their own leadership skills and re-connecting with the AGSM MBA community.

To best help students with their career transition, mentors provide support to students during the Strategic Management Year (SMY), formerly known as the Executive Year (EY), at the end of the program.

Process

This program is largely informal and we ask mentors to complete a minimum of three x one hour meetings over a three month period (either face-to-face or teleconference). This program is also really flexible – you can be located anywhere in the world and we’ll work around your busy schedule.

Please note: We try to connect mentors and mentees based on shared backgrounds and interests but this is not the focus of either mentoring program.

ASB Career mentoring program

As an alumni mentor, you will help a student prepare for working life after university and broaden their knowledge of the career market. You'll also help to boost their confidence and their ability to set and achieve goals. Your student mentee will be a second or third year undergraduate student, or a postgraduate coursework student.

Who’s our ideal alumni mentor? You’re based in Sydney and you have at least five years professional work experience after your graduation from ASB.

The mentoring program runs for three months from April - June. We ask you to spend around six hours of face-to-face meetings with your mentee over this time, It’s a flexibly structured program, and we can work around your busy schedule.

The 2013 program is now finalised. We’ll be back later in the year with information about the 2014 program.
