Alumni Leader selection criteria

 

The Alumni Leader Network comprises a limited number of senior and experienced people who represent the considerable achievements of the Australian School of Business.

 

Membership

Membership is by invitation only and members are nominated by the Dean and senior academic staff for consideration by the Advisory Council. In selecting Alumni Leaders the Australian School of Business has nominated graduates:

 

  • Who have a sustained record of accomplishment
  • Whose reputation is widespread and acknowledged
  • Whose outstanding achievements have earned them national or international prominence
  • Who are recognised by their peers as leaders in their particular field or community, and:
  • Who are seen to be making a difference
  • Have received an Australian honour or award
  • Have exceptional professional and personal leadership skills
  • Hold directorships or chair positions in major organisations
  • Have stimulated new ideas and services
  • Have shown exceptional dedication, creativity or leadership in their particular field
  • Have been entrepreneurs and innovators in business, government and academia

 

Honorary Alumni Leaders

An additional category, Honorary Alumni Leaders, has been created to recognise a small number of distinguished individuals who, while not graduates of the Australian School of Business/Faculty of Commerce and Economics, have made a substantial contribution to its growth, reputation and development, for example, those who have served on the Advisory Board or as Executives-in-Residence.

 

Honorary Alumni Leaders are nominated by the Dean and must be endorsed by the Advisory Council.


How do Alumni Leaders engage with the Australian School of Business?

 

Alumni Leaders engage with the Australian School of Business in a wide variety of ways:

 

  • As champions of and ambassadors for the Australian School of Business
  • As participants in our curricular and co-curricular programs
  • As potential employers of our graduates
  • As potential suppliers and sponsors of our students
  • As mentors and constructive critics
  • As advocates of Australian School of Business initiatives in research and education

 

They may:

 

  • Give a guest lecture or graduation address
  • Be a guest speaker at a 'Meet the CEO' event
  • Contribute articles or comment for publication
  • Be interviewed for Australian School of Business publications and website
  • Host seminars or chair panel discussions
  • Participate in industry reference groups
  • Give professional advice on curriculum development
  • Host a table at fundraising functions
  • Sponsor new initiatives or assist in identifying sources of support
  • Attend alumni events
  • Engage with the student community at specially created networking and careers events
