The fifth event in the Faculty's Meet the CEO series, and the final one for 2004, took place in The Scientia building on the UNSW campus on October 14th 2004.
Roger Corbett AM, CEO and Group Managing Director of Woolworths in Australia, started his working life at Woolworths on the dock of their Chatswood store. Over some 20 years with the company he rose to become their youngest full Director. A graduate of the Bachelor of Commerce program in the Faculty of Commerce and Economics at UNSW, he is also a member of the Faculty's Alumni Leaders' Network.
Five hundred alumni, students, staff and Faculty Alumni Leaders came to Leighton Hall to meet at the pre-event reception and to hear what Roger had to say in discussion with Helen Trinca, and in his answers to questions from the audience.
Roger talked about the challenges of retail in a duopoly, marketing, and home brands among many other subjects, and also told the audience what he does when he finds a stray Woolworths trolley at Circular Quay.
