Industry links

The Australian School of Business continually builds extensive and enduring links with the business community, enabling the School to develop its research, lifelong learning experiences and partnerships.

Building high-impact research

  • Sponsorship of professorial Chairs, such as the Macquarie Group Chair in Financial Services
  • Research partnerships with a wide variety of organisations in the public and private sectors, including The World Bank, the Australian Bureau of Statistics or the Commonwealth Bank
  • Bringing international experts from leading business schools, such as the PwC Visiting International Research Fellows program
  • Sponsorship of the National Honours Colloquium which brings the brightest and best Honours students to UNSW each year to present their thesis-in-progress and to meet senior industry leaders

Enhancing lifelong learning experiences

  • Industry-sponsored scholarships for both talented and disadvantaged students, including the prestigious Co-op Program, now in its 21st year
  • A program of Executive Education that provides lifelong executive and management services for large organisations in Australia and the region
  • Inviting outstanding business leaders into the classroom to give guest lectures, share case stories, participate in panel discussions and seminars and to act as mentors and advisors to faculty and students
  • Developing a program of industry internships to provide students with the opportunity to work for short periods in a variety of organisations, both large and small, in the corporate and government sectors
  • Consulting closely with major recruiters and employers to develop the curriculum and to ensure that our graduates are 'industry ready'
  • A lively program of professional development and networking opportunities for alumni including exclusive events, such as Meet the CEO, which gives alumni and students access to contemporary thinking in business by its leading practitioners. Guest speakers have included Sir Richard Branson of Virgin and Nicholas Moore, CEO of Macquarie Group
  • Support for student clubs and societies to provide opportunities for students to meet with industry practitioners in an informal context
  • An executive in-residence program that invites leading industry practitioners into the School to share their experiences and expertise with our students
  • Career services and advice to assist with graduate employment

Developing selective tier-1 alliances

  • The Business Advisory Council, which acts as a source of business advice, support and information from the chief executives, chairs and senior executives of Australia’s major companies and organisations
  • Partnerships with industry/professional associations such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants, CPA Australia and the Australian Institute of Marketing
  • Consulting services to organisations in the public and private sector – harnessing the School’s extensive research expertise
  • Industry Advisory Boards for research centres and organisations, such as the Australian Institute for Population Ageing Research, the Centre for Social Impact or the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Partnerships with leading international business schools that provide opportunities for student and faculty exchange, research initiatives and teaching opportunities
